Top 10 Places To Visit In Argentina
Be ready for an adventurous journey through the most amazing and most unique places in Argentina, and in the world.
Last year, we spent 4 months hitchhiking the whole Argentina from the southernmost city, Ushuaia all the way north to La Quiaca, border town with Bolivia.
It was one of our best adventures!
So, get yourself ready to travel around the Top 10 places to explore in Argentina. This is not in any order because they are all very unique.
Lets’ get started!
# 10. Campo De Pidera Pomez
This place will leave you speachless! A dessert of white and salmon colored rocks on gray sand. It’s huge! About 4 times the size of Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina.
“Fran: it’s a painted landscape from another planet …
Fran: we are on another planet … this is from another world!
Fran: there are no words to explain what this is !!!”
It’s so fascinating, unique, and not touristy at all that’s why it became one of our favorites.
Bring this experience to the next level and take a road trip to…
#9. Cono De Arita – A perfect cone volcano in the middle of a salt flat. I don’t know how else to describe it. It’s just mind blowing and insane. You need to see it for yourself.
If you’re going to do this road trip, you need to be prepared and rent a good 4×4 truck.
Don’t be like us because our car broke down in the middle of the desert.
You’ll pass through the most uninhabited places in Argentina so bring extra gas, food, water, and your mobile phone.
This drive is totally worth it, you’ll see amazingly out of this world landscapes.
Marco: What the fuck, it’s like we are on another planet!
#8. Perito Moreno Glacier
Fran: As an Argentinian, I always wanted to see the Perito Moreno Glacier. And here we are! Look! It’s incredible!
One of the biggest glaciers in the world surrounded by forests and mountains and probably the most touristy place in this list but it’s totally worth seeing. Who wouldn’t want to visit this place right?
“It’s very accessible and you can enjoy this place by trekking, kayaking, via a ferry,
or just walking around the national park.”
#7. El Chalten
El Chalten is a small town in Patagonia known as the trekking capital of Argentina. It’s is a perfect place to disconnect, camp, see wild life, trek, and be in contact with nature. Make sure to trek to Lago De Los Tres and see the magestic Mount Fitz Roy.
#6. Ischigualasto
This place is also called the Moon Valley because you’ll feel like your on the moon. It’s the only place in the world where you can find all moments of the Triassic period, the oldest dinosaurs ever discovered, and this inexplicable sphere rocks. Unfortunately, the only way to see this unique place is via an organized tour which means you’ll have limited time to really appreciate all its magic.
#5. Cafayate, Salta
Instead of going to Mendoza, go to Cafayate. They have wineries, amazing sceneries of colored rocks, and the best empanadas!
Oh my god! The Salteña empanadas!
And if you’re in Salta, go to a real peña and fall in love with the Argentinian folklore music.

#4. Ushuaia
The southernmost city of the world and the closest port to Antartica. This city is full of colorful and unique architecture. You’ll also see wildlife, glaciers, and beautiful landscapes with snow capped mountains.
Fran: (video saying looks like Germany).
#3. San Martin de Los Andes
Instead of going to Bariloche, go to San Martin De Los Andes, a small, charming, and quaint town in front of a beautiful lake. You can enjoy lots of outdoor activities all year round, just like in Bariloche but with less tourists. You will immediately fall in love with this beautiful small town.
#2. Salinas Grandes
The biggest and whitest salt flat in Argentina. It’ such a unique place! A vast area of salt with water underneath it. We suggest that you rent a car and drive there becasue the route going to Salinas Grandes is amazing plus you’ll be able to drive on the salt flats yourself and be able to see the “ojos de mar”.
and last but definitely not the least, we want to show you 2 places…
#1. Purmamarca and Humahuaca
Argentina has 2 of the most colorful moutains in the world!
This is the mountain of 7 colors in Purmamarca.
and this is El Hornocal, the mountain of 14 colors in Humahuaca.
These mountains are UNESCO world heritage sites and protected from over tourism.
You don’t even need a tour guide to see this. Just go there and enjoy this wonderful beauty of nature.
